WCFD Building Committee Meeting

  1. Recap of 8 July, 2009 building committee meeting. 
    1. Richard Holt, Kent Novak, Chief Pomfret and John Humble present.
    2. JH reported that National Grid had begun installing the pole hardware for service to the station but was delaying the transformer installation on the east pole until a determination was made of the suitability of ground conditions at its base for heavy equipment.
    3. After JMA’s approval and based on a unanimously approved motion made by Kent Novak and seconded by Richard Holt, Alhambra’s June requisition #9 for $246,308 was accepted for payment.
    4. Based on a unanimously approved motion made by Kent Novak and seconded by Richard Holt, Change Order #11 that increases the Contract Sum by $9,548 to $1,842,780 was accepted for Kent Novak’s signature.
    5. JH reported that he met with Angelo Ferrari of Geisser Engineering on 26 July to express the committee’s concerns regarding Geisser’s billing procedure.  Mr. Ferrari subsequently spoke with George Geisser, president.  Mr. Geisser believes that the fees have been appropriate and consistent with the scope of the project.  It was agreed that a follow up letter should be sent to Mr. Geisser with details supporting the committee’s concerns and that no payment be made towards the last two Geisser invoices until the matter is resolved. 
    6. Attempts have been made to obtain E. Osterman Propane’s schedule for installation of equipment with no response.  Possibly on vacation.
    7. Alahmbra will investigate the possibility of a propane regulator installation credit?
    8. Once electrical service is brought to the building, the temporary service to the trailer will be disconnected, the trailer removed from the site and Northern Site Contractors will complete the site grading and also place the generator.
    9. Guard rail installation has been completed by Joe Tatro.
    10. Alhambra to generate a guard rail credit.
    11. Base of flag pole has been installed by Joe Tatro.  Pole to be erected 13 July by Joe Tatro and members.
    12. Alhambra has been requested to quote the installation of a spot light for the flag?
    13. CP for 9” H cast Al street number (1110) mounted on main entrance pediment to be submitted by Alhambra.
    14. Status of street address lettering on main entrance doors pending Chief Pomfret’s action.
    15. Pavement to gravel interface backfilling completed by Joe Tatro.
    16. West end gravel parking area erosion mitigation completed by Joe Tatro.
    17. Striping and lettering of pavement scheduled for week of 13 July.
    18. Right Connection phone system installation completion pending installation of electrical service.
    19. Status of FP system pressure tests pending.
    20. Plan to install the station radio antenna, bracket and cable pending. 
    21. Excessive rain water to gutter spill over at bottom of pediment valleys. 
    22. Strainers for down spouts to be installed by Alhambra.
    23. Steel plugs for holes in cover of walk way manhole pending.
    24. Well water quality test results pending.
    25. Repair of settling crack at door #1 of apparatus bay to be carried out by Alhambra. 
    26. Based on a unanimously approved motion made by Richard Holt and seconded by Kent Novak, it was agreed that for a charge of $225, Comolli Granite deliver and set upon a concrete foundation constructed by WCFD the 1,800 lb granite memorial pedestal.
    27. Kent Novak reported that the furniture orders had been placed with Coventry Glass, Bob’s Furniture and Ocean State Furniture.  Delivery of the couch and two recliners from Bob’s Furniture will take place on 21 or 22 July. 
    28. Incidental furniture, waste paper baskets, shelving orders pending.
    29. CO/NO sensor certification and on going testing plan TBD.
    30. Kent Novak to establish appliance delivery schedule. 
    31. Completion of finish work and kitchen cabinet hardware installation pending. 
    32. Turn out gear storage.
    33. Identify specification, source and installation of rest room accessories owned by WCFD pending.
    34. Janitorial equipment order pending.
    35. Window treatments, i.e., shades, blinds, orders pending Kent Novak obtaining mounting techniques.
    36. Landscaping plan and schedule. 

                                                               i.      JH to meet with town zoning official regarding parking area buffer requirements.

                                                             ii.      Significant watering plan already established by mother nature.

                                                            iii.      Seeding of touch up areas.

    1. Identifying landscaping equipment needs pending.
    2. Mezzanine railing paint color correction as been made.
    3. Bolts for bollards have arrived.  Bollards to be installed as is with correct sleeves to be installed when they arrive, 2-4 weeks.
    4. No indication of requested emergency vehicle signs on Victory Highway by RIDOT to date.
    5. Station street signage design, availability and cost pending. 
    6. Plan for 11’ sections of unused galvanized steel nosing TBD?  Day room patio edging is an idea to be considered.
    7. Schedule for member personnel for systems training may take place within two weeks.
    8. JH reported that Rick Ameral of Alhambra now believes that the project will be completed by the end of July. 
    9. The current budget ledger was presented by Richard Holt and reviewed by the committee.  The cost of the project continues to remain on budget.
    10. The next building committee meeting is scheduled for 4:45 p.m., 15 July, 2009 at the “ye old” Summit Station.
