Activity

The dept. members have been helping with various projects at the new station.  The duty crews are performing as expected.  The dept attended services for Anthony Deputy Chief Joe Hartman and former WCFD firefighter Alan Smith.  Both had passed on recently.  The dept. is continuing to respond to Central Coventry for mutual-aid involving both fire and EMS calls.

Apparatus

The pump on E-9 had failed at a pump training exercise.  Repairs have been arranged.  R-8 had some repairs performed on the air conditioning system.

Personnel

The two newest members have been active with the dept.  Both are attending all trainings, responding to calls, and spending time at the station learning the apparatus and district streets.

Trainings

The roster is building for the firefighter I course that will begin in late September.  The EMS recert is winding down as we are preparing for the final testing.  We continue to show a good attendance on training nights.  A recent Saturday joint training with Scituate involving confined space training went well.

Grants

I have not heard from FEMA at this point

Other Business

I continue to hear positive comments from the public as well as other chiefs in regards to the excellent service that our dept. is providing.  Our day-time staff have assigned duties that they perform.  In the event any district official requires the service of either one of them, I would expect a courtesy phone call.

Respectfully Submitted,

Chief Joel Pomfret
