Subject:            NEW FIRE STATION BUILDING COMMITTEE REPORT

Date:              August 20, 2009

 

1.      Water, electricity and propane services have been installed.

2.      All mechanical (M), electrical (E) and plumbing (P) systems, including fire protection and alarms, are presently being tested by the various subcontractors.

3.      The project design engineering firm, Creative Environment Engineering, will oversee the final commissioning of the MEP systems.

4.      The compiling and addressing of a “punch list” (items to be corrected and/or addressed) and interior housekeeping is underway.

5.      The Coventry building official has informally inspected the project and has indicated that there should be no issues in obtaining a CO.

6.      Water quality testing is in process per the State’s latest requirements.

7.      Once COX Cable completes its installation within the next 7 to 10 days, the phone and PA system will be installed.

8.      Most of the furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) is on site and/or installed.

9.      The landscaping plan is being finalized.

10.  Granting of a CO is estimated to be no later than the week of September 7.

11.  Of the original hard cost budget of $1,870,000, present estimates, commitments and payments total $1,851,395, leaving a hard cost balance of $18,605 as of 12 August, 2009.

12.  Likewise, of the original soft cost budget of $330,000, present estimates, commitments and payments total $269,437, leaving a soft cost balance of $60,563.

13.  The above stated estimates, commitments and payments totals do not include the yet to be determined cost of the unlikely event of any future required change orders, landscaping, landscaping and general maintenance equipment, IT system and accessories, street signage, possible water treatment system and incidental needs.  These costs will be funded by the total unassigned balance of $79,168 ($18,605+$60,563).
