Facility Progress

The department moved operations to the new Summit Station in late September.  The firefighters are doing a marvelous job in keeping the station looking new.  Various agencies have viewed the station and are very impressed with the design.  As with any new building there are minor bugs that present themselves.  Alhambra Construction was forwarded a punch list and they were able to correct the deficiencies in a timely manner.  With the unexpected resignation of the Building Committee Chairperson Jon Humble in September, there were many loose ends left to be dealt with.  With the help of Board of Director Members Kent Novak, Jon Mitchell, Richard Holt, Chief Pomfret and several others various projects were completed.  Kent and Jon tackled the computer needs for the district.  Richard and his team managed to get the landscaping in place prior to snow fall.  We met with several Water Treatment Companies in an attempt to provide a colorless and odorless quality of domestic water for the station.  The chosen filtration system is working as expected.  A floor scrubbing machine was purchased for the purpose of maintaining the apparatus bay floor.  The machine is performing well as the floors continue to shine.  Two signs for the station entrance were designed and installed.  A storage shed will be purchased in the near future to accommodate storage for the lawn equipment, snow removal equipment, and other goods.
